Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, the parody biopic that delves into the life of “Weird Al” Yankovic, starring Daniel Radcliffe, is now available to stream in Canada.
The film stars Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Rainn Wilson as Dr Demento, Quinta Brunso as Oprah Winfrey, Julianne Nicholson as Mary Yankovic, Toby Huss as Nick Yankovic and Jack Black in Wolfman Jack.
Is it free to watch?
Because the Roku channel is ad-supported, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story will be free to watch when it launches. However, not all countries can stream the movie as the Roku channel only has a presence in the US, UK, and Canada.
Yankovic told The New York Times that “Roku was the only company that pulled out its checkbook. Thanks to them, this movie is being made.
The Roku Channel’s advantage over other streaming services is that it’s free, which means Weird: The Al Yankovic Story will be free. Roku can do this by prioritizing revenue from ads, content distribution, and device sales. Best of all, if you’re in the US, you don’t need a Roku device to use the service; you can stream content on the Roku website. Residents of the UK and Canada require Roku streaming devices. The Roku channel isn’t available outside of these countries, so hopefully Weird can be seen elsewhere.
Who is in the “rare” cast?
Daniel Radcliffe stars as “Weird Al” and the cast also includes Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Quinta Brunson as Oprah Winfrey, Spencer Treat Clark as Steve Jay, Will Forte as Ben Scotti, Conan O’Brien as Andy Warhol, Jack Black as Wolfman Jack, Jorma Taccone as Pee-wee Herman, and Akiva Schaffer as Alice Cooper.
The film’s tongue-in-cheek official synopsis reads: Daniel Radcliffe is “Weird” Al Yankovic in the unapologetically true story of the greatest musician of our time. From a conventional upbringing where playing the accordion was a sin, Al rebelled and fulfilled his dream of changing the lyrics of world-famous songs. An instant hit and sex symbol, Al leads an excessive life and pursues a nefarious romance that nearly destroys him.
